Team Rooket Clinch Championship in Thrilling Final

Team Rooket - 2012 SCA ChampionsIt all came down to the final at Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme to decide the winner of the 2011 SCA Championship. Even as they were lining up for the final, it could still have been won by any of Centa Bavaria, Team Rooket, Pist'n'Broke and C12. In the end, Team Rooket's first place in the second final was enough to secure the trophy by the narrowest of margins, having tied with Centa Bavaria on 17 points overall and only taking the trophy by virtue of having competed in more events.

Only two teams competed in sufficent events to be eligible for the sidecar championship, and since they both managed two firsts and a second, the honours were shared between them meaning that Bush Racing and Team Weasel are the joint SCA Sidecar Champions for 2011.

Final Placings

1. Team Rooket (17pts - 4 events)
2. Centa Bavaria (17pts - 3 events)
3. Pist'n'Broke (16pts)

See here for the full table.

Note: Owing to a mistake in the application of the rules, the SCA Championship was actually given to Centa Bavaria immediately after Cairnorm Soapbox Extreme. However, the title was subsequently awarded to Team Rooket when the mistake became apparent.

Team Rooket's pratice didn't go to plan

   2. Team Alford - 12

Pist'n'Broke's hopes of securing the 2011 SCA Championships took a heavy blow at the Catterline Cartie Challenge on Sunday when they crashed out on the first bend during practice. Failing to negotiate the tricky right-hander at Jimmy's put them up on the bank and snapped their front axle, effectively ruling them out for the rest of the day and meaning that they would collect no points for the day.

Team Rooket had to work hard to stay in the race, with two major crashes giving them plenty of work on in between the runs, but their biggest downfall was a 5 second penalty for clipping a cone in their second run, which dropped them down from 1st to 4th place on aggregate.

Records Smashed at Border Bogies

C12 at Border Bogies
C12 broke the track record and took the silverware at Border Bogies

The second round of the SCA Championship took place in the lovely Borders village of Denholm, near Hawick last weekend. 24 teams - the largest field yet - took part in the senior race at Border Bogies, and the juniors were well represented too.

After last year's race there was speculation as to whether it would be possible to complete the course in under a minute, and this year we didn't have to wait long for the answer. Team Rooket, in the second run of the day, smashed the 60 second barrier by 2 seconds. Their records didn't stand for long, however, and C12 posted a time of 56.45 seconds in their second run - a time which nobody could beat for the rest of the day. But that didn't stop everyone trying! C12, Team Alford, Team Rooket, Centa Bavaria and Pist n Broke all managed sub 60 second runs.
