Events
The 2009 event will take place in Mineralwell Park, Stonehaven, on Sunday August 30th at 12:00 pm.
This years event will be preceded by a workshop to help juniors build their own cartie...and the organisers will even supply the materials! For just £20, budding gravity racers (accompanied by an adult) can construct and decorate their very own machine, which they can then run down the hill in mineralwell Park at the end of the month. The workshop will be held on the Stonehaven Plainstones at 1pm on Saturday 15th August. Contact David Clayton on 01569 767666 for more information.
See http://stonehavencarties.co.uk/ for details and entry forms.

A half-mile course on a close public road with push start, 1:8 hill, chicanes and lots of other malarkey. Possible Camping and party on Saturday night. We positively encourage novice and novelty entries and will also run a class for National Rules soapboxes. Scrutineering likely to be on 30th or 31st August to give you a chance to modify if not safe to run.
Revised rules for 2009 are less restrictive, to try and get more fun into the event. Rules and entry forms will be sent to previous entrants by the middle of December, with entries being opened to all on Twelfth Night (6th January). There has been a lot of interest from new potential entrants, so get your entry in early to avoid disappointment.

Following the success of the Raft Race in recent years, Ellon is hosting its first Pedal Car Championship in the summer of 2010. The streets will be closed off to make way for a fun day of racing where teams will compete in a series of races to raise money for their chosen charities.
This is a race for human powered pedal vehicles so your gravity powered racer will probably not do very well without a few modifications, but if you're interested and have enough time to fit some gears and pedals it should be a fun day out.
